CHILECITO - Chilecito- and Famatina-based environmental organizations that oppose a possible open-pit explosion in Famatina mountains prepare a document to be delivered to local and provincial legislators to push for a law that, among other things, would prohibit this type of mining practice.

'Faced with government indifference and multinational ambition, the villagers will answer with more and better democracy'. Due to the pressure, route blocks and mobilization of civic assemblies, the provincial legislature has announced that by law open sky mining will be forbidden, and that this law will be written in consultation. This is truly a triumph worth celebrating.
